Nope. You just need to grimace and pay up. You could shop around a couple of dealers and save a few pounds but there is no other way.

You cannot reprogramme an Ebay one whatever anyone tells you.

If you've never had the key it might be worth a 'phone call to the previous owner to ask if they still happen to have it in a drawer - you might get lucky.

If you do get in touch with the previous owner, dont give them your address. If they do have it, offer to pay them £25 and go and pick it up.

When I bought my pre-owned W203 I made a point of asking how many keys they had for the car. The dealer only had one. After negotiating a deal I then added the proviso - providing they supplied it with 2 keys. Which they did. No problem. So when I picked the car up I got one nice new shiny chrome key and one older all black plastic one.
When buying a pre-owned Mercedes, ALWAYS check that it comes with 2 keys. Either that or request an extra £180 price reduction.

Can replacement keys be gotten elsewhere other than paying dealer prices??

Sorry no way around this,, if one could buy them elsewhere the cars would be stolen all the time.

No one has cracked the MB coding yet so its MB only and do take the log book and some ID
