Hi , I have a 56 plate 311cdi long sprinter with 131k on the clock and the problem i'm having is when I'm stuck in traffic for 15 minutes or more when I pull away the van smokes really heavily for about 30 seconds then clears, has anyone else had a similar problem? It's been to the dealers 4 times but they havent managed to cure it. Many thanks

White smoke is an air leak and black smoke the filters need changing

black smoke is almost a part of life with some of these engines, filters will cuase it yes, as will worn injectors, even a siezed egr valve, I would try some injector cleaner and change the filters and see if it makes any difference.. also I personally dont like supermarket diesel..
