Mine was bought by the previous owner about a year ago from a dealer in the West Country so it could have been the same car. It is a kind offer to have your money pit but I an sure I have one of my own! I gave it a bath and there were a few drops of water in the boot, I have cleaned out the bits of tree stuck in the rubbers and hopefully it was nothing more than that. It will be kept under cover most of the time anyway, it will only get wet if I get caught out in a shower. I have new boot struts for it as these are a bit weak (the third car in a month I have had to do them on!) and one of the 'flaps' is a little loose but only about 10mm of play, I am hoping it will be sorted with a little adjustment. The SatNav disk is probably 2003 so I will have to take out a mortgage for an updated one! The music (Radio 2 or 4) only comes out of the passenger door speaker which actually sounds blown but I am hoping that will just be balance control - haven't fiddled with anything just yet as the train journey to collect it has done my back in!

Just minor niggles Rhoda, minor niggles ;)

It makes life easier and cheaper!
Bose speakers use a weird low impedance speaker and a fibre optic coupled amplifier. Non-Bose use higher impedance wire connected speakers from the head unit so giving you an option of third party head units and speakers. Replacing Bose stuff is a nightmare.
Thanks Lostkiwi, that is good to know! I am hoping it is just that the old fella who owned the car managed to cock up the balance but I still think I have at least one blown speaker. I haven't been fit enough to sit in the car and fiddle just yet and I need someone to read the manual to me as I can't see well enough to read print. Waiting for a friend to come round who is one of those weird people who actually read manuals! :D

Absolutely 00slk, if those are the only faults on an 18yo car this complicated then I think I have done well! Gives me something to do as I can't drive it anyway! :)

Seeing that I am a Kiwi too Rhoda (but not lost) I'll steel LK's limelight.....Yes the door card will need to be removed. I think the airbag badge on the door is turned 180 degrees and that badge pops out, the rest is fairly straight forward screws and clips. Though I am sure Lost Kiwi can elaborate in a more technical way ;)
