Lovely car, congratulations. According my 2004 R230 SL specific colour chart Fire Opal Red (590) was plain non metallic pillar box red. It does not look like your car.

It could be amber red metallic, (548).

Do let us know we are all agog.

Congratulations, well worth the wait by the looks of things - I think the colour is ‘Firemist Red Effect’ looking at the MB 2005 colour chart
Thank you Malcolm, I think you are right, it is Fire Mist Red, I got it wrong! I knew it was fire something! I will double check with the paint code.

Thank you Mark. I am not certain where the paint code is at the moment but I think Malcolm is right, it is Fire Mist Red.

Thank you SRDL, I had no idea they did so many reds on one model!

Thanks 00slk, nothing wrong with silver or black and it was very popular in the day, certainly a wider choice but I wanted Tanzanite blue until I saw this red one! The paint code is C548 which I believe is Firemist Red but some places have that code as Amber Bernstein Red. The guy I bought it from told me it was Firemist Red - which ever it is, she is beautiful! I just need to find my ideal private plate now, unfortunately R11ODA is allocated to a 2010 Honda so is already someone's private plate.

Thanks Lostkiwi, a bit too much money for pure vanity! I think RH52ODA will do, the plate has to be younger or the same age as the car as I found when I was buying one for my other car yesterday.

No, the plate can be the same age or older than the car. You can't make a car appear younger by fitting a newer plate

If you were living in New Zealand you could have 'RHODA' if that is available.......Just thought I'd say that

There was a red one near me for sale about a year ago in this similar, can't remember if it was a 500 or 350 though.
You could have bought my Money Pit, it's Tanzanite Blue, just got a roof on it.....Lol

Mine was bought by the previous owner about a year ago from a dealer in the West Country so it could have been the same car. It is a kind offer to have your money pit but I an sure I have one of my own! I gave it a bath and there were a few drops of water in the boot, I have cleaned out the bits of tree stuck in the rubbers and hopefully it was nothing more than that. It will be kept under cover most of the time anyway, it will only get wet if I get caught out in a shower. I have new boot struts for it as these are a bit weak (the third car in a month I have had to do them on!) and one of the 'flaps' is a little loose but only about 10mm of play, I am hoping it will be sorted with a little adjustment. The SatNav disk is probably 2003 so I will have to take out a mortgage for an updated one! The music (Radio 2 or 4) only comes out of the passenger door speaker which actually sounds blown but I am hoping that will just be balance control - haven't fiddled with anything just yet as the train journey to collect it has done my back in!

Does this car have Bose (it'll be a little badge on the speaker)?

It makes life easier and cheaper!
Bose speakers use a weird low impedance speaker and a fibre optic coupled amplifier. Non-Bose use higher impedance wire connected speakers from the head unit so giving you an option of third party head units and speakers. Replacing Bose stuff is a nightmare.

I had to replace one of my Bose speakers in the 55, it was £35 from a breaker. The Bose ones are made in China, though I can't fault them :)

You know if you have a Bose system Rhoda, if you crank up the volume you'll blow your ear drums ;)
I've had mine up as load as I dear and it is still clear with no distortion but it get to the stage that it's scary plus your ears are ringing for sometime after you have got out of the car
