Do yourself a favour Conor, don't bother with Halfords, the second replacement battery I have got off them is failing again, I'm going to take the battery back and get my money back and get one from Grangemouth MB!

Really? The internet provided positive experience about Yuasa.. What brand was yours?

Yuasa are fine - a very reputable brand. He probably meant don't buy Halfords own brand.

I can't see how a CLK will need a start/stop battery!

You can usually fit different length batteries in most cars. Usually a clip at the base, or a bar across the top.

...of course Mercedes love to be different and awkward though...

^ The new battery is being fitted to a W212 E350CDi, not a CLK?
As above, Yuasa are a decent brand of battery.

Yup E350, but CGI :)

If the Yuasa one is good, then I am happy with it. £88 isn't bad imho.

plus 1 for yuasa, have one on my ML270, very strong.
I think I would have taken the remains of your alternator to a refurb place, told them I was stupid and ask how much to repair, surely cheaper than a new one, failing that, scrap yard alternator and have that refurbished.
