Hesitation before acceleration from stop

2006 CLK 220 CDI 192 k, Drove from home about 1 mile waiting at lights, hear and feel a rythmic thump, thump. Looked in the mirror to see if the car behind was bumping into me gently but no, switched off the radio but still the same, shifted into park thumps stopped. Lights changed shifted to drive and try to accelerate but car is creeping forward, put on hazards and aimed for first side road to get out of the traffic but after about 50 metres it picked up and pulled away smoothly.
For the rest of the day noticed when trying to accelerate from stop or moving slowly sometimes there is hesitation before picking up speed but then all normal.
When parked up tried reving the engine when in park but always smooth with instant response even with gentle input on the accelerator and the thumping never returned, any ideas?

Has the transmission oil been changed accordingly?

Just checked with Icarsoft MB 1.0, nothing on transmission, on the engine got a few
1520-1 S40/4cc switch with variable speed limiter data unreasonable
2632-8 charge pressure too high
2032-2 G3/2 (02)sensor upstream of kat voltage too low

And in the check section got check drive authorisation and zero quantity calibration

Clear the fault codes and take it for a short drive......... see what fault comes back on the car or won't clear.

Had to drive to the shops, at start it was a bit lumpy, pulling out of my drive slowly it stalled after 2 meters, restarted gave it some revs and managed to get going, on the way it stuttered a couple of times at roundabouts hesitating at start. Before returning home I checked the fault codes, no change so I cleared them all and set off, smooth driving all the way home no hesitation, checked for codes none. This car has done things like this for years, gets a problem which dissapears, should be used to it by now.

Have you checked cables under the bonnet for any chaffing..?
