Hi all:

I had posted this under the engine, drivetrain forum, but didn't get any
response. So posting it here, just in case someone has run into similar prob.

I have this problem for few years and I can reproduce it at any
time. What happens is, if I am park at a place with WHEELS TURNED OUT
after going in a circle to park the car face out, when I come back,
and try to drive the car, it just doesn't want to move when I
press the accel. Also, the engine doesn't rev-up as I press the accel.
The engine kind off misfires.

I have to straighten the wheels and let go the accel so the car starts
rolling in idle and then when I press the accel slowly, it starts moving
again.

Why is this happening? Could it be the ps pump or tranny
kickdown switch?

Rarely it happens when I am parked with wheels straight also.
Sometimes I hear some clack clack noises underneath the car
and then it starts picking up the speed again. The problem
happens only when you are trying to accel from 0 speed.

I have changed tranny oil, filter and also new fuel filter recently.
Just put in the injector cleaner too. I also have new spark plugs
and wires.

Any help to solve this prob is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Arv.

unrelated issues I'd suspect. Assuming the PS pump had siezed, it would simply snap the belt or would squeal like a piggie. Thats the only connection between the engine and steering aside from ESP but I can't see why that would interfere.
That said, perhaps completely shot mounts and the engine being out of line ...
I'm guessing really.

Don't know if you have traction control or not, but if so, is a wheel sensor causing a misreading?
Are the wheels/suspension original equipment?
Surely this has got to be electronics related - maybe diagnostics would reveal some fault codes?

Well, the engine mounts are good. I don't have auto traction control.
The struts and suspension is all orginal. They are still in good condition.
Don't have that constant humping while driving or stiffness. I keep a
check on everything every few months.

Thank you all for your replies.

Any other thoughts? Remember that it happens only while accel from a dead
stop and I can reproduce it anytime with my wheels turned out all the
way in either direction, rarely it happens with wheels straight also.

Thanks yet again,
Arv.

Sounds like a possible missfire under load. Check the ignition circuit for a possible cause; otherwise its a strange fault????

I agree. It's a very strange fault. I have new plugs and wires. The car
starts like a champ.

Thanks,
Arv.

I had cleaned the air mass sensor some time ago. I had changed the
brake pads about 18k miles ago. When you say "caliper serviced", do
you mean flushing the brake fluid and putting new fliud?

I think it is some electronics related fault. But what? That's the BIG Q.

Thanks you all again,
Arv.
