W169 07 1.4 soon to add a C250 CDi estate 11 plate 2.1 diesel
Hi to everyone here.

We have a great little W169 A class 07 1.4 that just works, our bigger car was a trusty x-type Jag (loved it).
I/we are about to take the plunge and buy an 2011/2012 C250 diesel estate, I'm about to go and look at a few but before I do, is there anything I should know/lookout for from cars made at that time....?

I've read threads about the ATF and 40k miles, so I'll dig deep into the service history etc.
I'll do the usual checks like the AC, windows, tyres, brakes, rattles, creaks on full lock etc, also clutch slip etc as its an auto.

But I'm no genius and without asking too much of anyone's time just wonder what else to look for.

Many many thanks in advance.

Get the VIN and run it through a decoder for the data (build) sheet to confirm exactly what you should be getting https://www.mbdecoder.com/
Take a scanner with you when you go for a looksee, I took mine to look at a car for my Son in Law and found a number of historical faults and two current, the seller, car dealer, claimed to know nothing about!

Welcome dont discount the C350CDI, one of the best engines MB made & surprisingly economic.

Welcome and I second the 3.0ltr suggestion! It’s a tried and tested lump and frugal if you like the latter.

Only thing I would add is, it’s a German car so, externally they wear the miles well and many are clocked. Ensure the mileage tallies on the mot history, service history, interior wear and underneath it etc.

Thanks to everyone for their tips, advice and warm welcome.

I'm picking up the W204 tomorrow (friday) morning and am looking forward to the detoured drive home.
Thanks Sonic and DSK, for your advice, I did ponder over that fabulous engine but I see our governments putting up road tax more and more as soon as they can get away with it, and big engines I suspect might get hit first.

I negotiated the purchase price down a bit as the car I've bought is due an A1 service in about 300 miles. This I'm happy about as I will book it into MB Cambridge and ask them to get it up on the ramp and give it the once over.

Thanks again to all.
