I own a Mercedes GLE350de, which I absolutely love. However recently the charging flap has started to randomly open when the car is stationary and locked. I have been into my local MB dealer and have been advised that the actuator needs to be replaced but as with everything else is on back order. The dealership managed to open the flap for me manually and I have had it taped closed so that I could charge my vehicle, however somebody has taken it upon themselves to close it and now I can't open it and don't really want to drive to the dealership for them to open it. Anybody help me to open the flap manually?

Hello and welcome,

I don't think we've seen that as an issue on the forum before - I know a few Mercedes have emergency release pulls in the boot for the fuel fillers behind some trim. You might be lucky and have something similar - anything in the owners manual?

Thank you for the welcome...

I know there's a release for the fuel filler cap but not the charging port cap, not that's obvious anyway, as everything seems sealed, I think it could be a trip back to the dealership.

Looks like they've acknowledged the fault as a business, as the parts are on back order, just my luck!!

Hi, I have the same car, same year with the same problem and have just contacted Mercedes-Benz who have the actuator for the flap available and I’m having it fitted in a couple of weeks time…… fortunately I have an extended warranty so it should be covered. In case you haven’t found it, there is a release in the boot on the same side… Looks like a little black square remove this and you will see an orange cable which you need to pull. Hope this helps
