2016 C class 250 Amg line premium plus
Hi newbie to this forum
Just purchased a 2016 c class 250 premium + coupe
I will no doubt have many questions over time
The main problem I don’t understand is my filler cap has a AdBlue filler too
But according to the dash info ; there is no AdBlue in it
Is this normal .?
Do only the blue efficiency models need to use this or should I be using it too ? Tia

Hello and welcome,

It might have been coded out by a previous owner… makes the car illegal but usable…

Really ?
Is that a problem or do a lot do that ?
The dash reading says empty with 000 miles to go , but works fine
I thought it might av been an earlier model that had the filler but not in use for that model
I noticed it said somewhere ( blue efficiency only ) ?

Definitely sounds like it’s been coded out, you’ve been sold an illegal vehicle - did you get it from a dealer or private sale?

The problem is that AdBlue systems fail regularly and cost ££££ to (temporarily) fix… so many get remapping companies to code them out.

Private sale
So is it a problem to me if it’s mapped out or is it a bonus ?
If it’s an expensive problematic system
I’m guessing it won’t do any damage to the car ?

Welcome.

In the same way as DPF removal is now an MOT fail, I wonder how long before AdBlue systems are checked as part of the test?

I think really it is dependent on a few things - whether ethically you want to live with it or want to risk it not being a legal vehicle. If reinstated, how deep are your pockets as you'll need possibly 1k or more to fix it and even then the system will still be prone to issues. Really if fitted, it should work but as many already know especially in this forum, it is a weak and feeble system prone to very expensive issues. As Srdl says, they are likely to pick up on it in due course in the MOT test. So you could wing it for a bit, until such time as you can't or, get it reinstated. It still works on my W213 but I must say it is at the back of mind re time to failure. Otherwise welcome, and enjoy your new car!
