I have just bought a W203 56 plate with 70000 miles full service history and 1 owner and returned home after 250 miles with a smile on my face and parked up and pushed the folding mirrors in via the button and the next day they would not open to the out position and could not get an auto spark to look at it until 14th September so booked into Mercedes on Tuesday with fear of the cost. If they can just get the mirrors out without all the new parts. Don't imagine you can force them out and the only way in my opinion is put a live feed to bring them out. Any ideas guys.
Thanks for your co-operation.

It's possible they might just be stiff - try gently easing them out when the button is pushed.

Do you happen to know if the previous owner routinely folded them in? The wiring goes brittle over time and snaps. Could be they haven't been folded for years and they wiring has broken although unlucky for both sides to go.

To be honest, I'd also be fearful of taking this to a dealer! Did you buy the car pivately?

If the service history is MB dealer then you could call Mobilo (Mercedes Assist).

Hi
Its a full service history and serviced by Mercedes and German Specialist so its a no go with Mobilo and had to cancel a mini break today as don't know how far this will lead. Yes I bought it from a place in Bradford and it's really in great condition for a 56 plate and 70000 miles and truly think you have identified the problem, and with being an elderly couple they would have a driveway and no need to pull the mirrors in and thanks for your help.

Hi
And thanks for the welcome.
Reg
The mirror covers just unclip but make sure the mirror itself is flush otherwise it can crack. You can check components from there. Might just need a little releasing spray. Also daft question but is the convenience settings set for them to open and close?

The mirror makes a tiny noise then stops and I truly think the answer from Rory about the broken wires is the root into the problem and have the car booked into Mercedes on Tuesday for a diagnostic test £99 and have requested that they just get the mirrors to the out position and will never touch the ****** button again LOL

£99 for them to tell you what you already know?
Have a look at a video on how to slide the covers off and it is easier when they are folded.
The hinge pin often comes loose so might just need tapping back in and then spray some lube in, manually unfold them and refit the cover saving you £100+.

 Run. Away. (Unless you have Jeff Bazos level of disposable income, that is).

Find a good local independent MB specialist. The dealership is programmed to fleece you for little jobs like this.

Welcome by the way.

Only the Vito left! W639/1 OM646
Get the selling dealer to sort it out. Consumer Rights Act 2015.
(Assuming he didn't state they didn't work when you bought it.)

Just a wee update guys about the electric folding mirror's. After a while moving wires etc they eventually opened and I have vowed never to touch the buttons again. Now the really hard part was e-mailing Mercedes to cancel my slot for Tuesday and saving £99 that a % went on a few drams the day.
Thanks for all your help it was appreciated
