I’m the owner of a champagne 280E from 1982, which has spent its former life in places as diverse as Leeds and Chichester, before coming home with me to London.

Having had Volvo Amazons for most of my life this car is a revelation of comfort, speed and smoothness. I’m trying to give it some of the TLC it has lacked in the last few years and it’s now basically sorted (apart from the cruise control).

Present jobs are a complete exhaust replacement and fixing a heater which is refusing to shut off it’s hot air.

Hope to get the benefit of all your combined experience with these cars, and to share mine.

My boss bought a 1982 230e brand new and I remember thinking how beautiful these drove.....though the 280e was far superior in performance but then again I am a speed fend
