I have a transmission problem that i need help with. I own a W213 E class 2017 with 120,000 on the clock. To cut a long story short, the automatic transmission fluid was changed on the car. First, 5 litres of fluid was drained. But, we felt the atf was short so we replaced with 7 litres. To fill transmission, the mechanic inexplicably filled it through the tubes/lines that takes the atf to the radiator for cooling and then returns it when cooled. Initially, the car drove perfectly. After about 24 hours, anytime i would slow down to a stop the engine would shut off by itself. If i got to a traffic light and slowed down, the engine would stutter/shake and shut off by itself. I thought that perhaps we had overfilled the transmission. So, we drained 2 litres off. But, the problem persists The fault codes i have obtained are all transmission related and are as follows P073E00, P07B571, P07E400,P074200 and P076077.
Now, i am being told that the problem is the integrated transmission module in the transmission. Firstly, can i buy a used transmission control module of Ebay, would it work? Or, is it that i have to buy a virgin one from Mercedes and get it programmed ? Please help!

What about an MB specialist buddy , rather than the chump that just made stuff up ? The gearboxes are very sensitive to incorrect oil levels
Where are you ?

The car is in Ghana, and i live in England. Can anyone tell me if the integrated transmission module is interchangeable or whether i need a completely new/virgin one from Mercedes ?

Ermmm How are you driving the car being so far away. Get a decent mechanic. He screwed up and now blaming a module. These issues are just going to cost you if you follow mechanics advice.

iCarsoft ( or other ) OBD scan, by some one who knows what he / she is doing is the first and most important step. Identify the fault as shown by the codes, and then the fix. Throwing parts at the problem is a road you dont want to go down. For a start, as Wighty has said....MB Transmissions are really sensitive to the fluid level, and temperature affects the level, and thats the basics. There's a set procedure for checking the fluid level, and either topping it up, or removing some, and it has to be done using the correct procedure, which does not involve using the cooler pipes. There is a short tube in the transmission sump, and checking has to be done using that. Check YouTube videos which show how to check the ATF level in the 722.9 transmission.
