As above, visit your nearest Mercedes dealer with proof of ownership and some ID and they should give you the code for free.

First off, don't feel bad, pulling a fuse and then staring at a locked radio demanding a code is basically a rite of passage for Mercedes owners. You're in good company.

Quick version of what happened: your SLK's Becker radio stores the code in memory, and the second it lost power (when you yanked those fuses) it locked itself and now wants the 4-digit code back. Nothing's broken, it's just being dramatic.

A few things to try before you make the drive to the dealer in Fife:

• Check the original owner's packet / glovebox. Mercedes often stuck the radio code card in with the manuals, or wrote it on a label. Some folks even find it scribbled in the service book.
• If you (or a shop) can pull the radio out for two minutes, the serial number is printed right on the unit. There are legit online Mercedes radio-code services that'll give you the code from that number for a few bucks.
• The free route everyone mentioned is real too: the MB dealer in Fife will usually do it for free with your ID and proof of ownership. Just call ahead so they're not hunting for the tool.

Once you get it, snap a photo of the code and save it in your phone. Future-you, who inevitably pulls another fuse someday, will thank you.
