Hi. We just bought a used A100d. It’s our first Merc.

We are having trouble joining Mercedes Me. And want to find a way to stop the Eco override from activating by default where the engine cuts out when in queues of traffic. We love the car and are just trying to get used to it.
Thanks.

Welcome!

The Stop/Start is a mandatory feature as it’s part of the car EU6 emissions system so the only way to disable it is manually on the dash at each engine start. It’s the bane of most people's life on here including myself and yes we all have to do this manually

Okay. Thanks. I wondered if there was a way to override it somehow other than by disabling on the dash every time. It certainly caught us out driving it in traffic, driving home from the dealership.

Welcome Lastlid, if you find a way to disable the stop/start feature, please let us know. Constantly stopping and starting does the engine no good at all.

I have never heard of an A100d?
I thought there was only 2 diesel choices on a 2017 A Class - the A180d with 1.5 litre engine and A200d with 2.1 litre engine.

I actually think Start/Stop is a good thing when paired with a manual gearbox because you can control exactly when you want it to operate, but with an automatic gearbox it is a truly awful and I hate it with a passion!:mad::mad:

Hello and welcome. start-stop is the most annoying "feature" of newer cars, I absolutely hate it ! , you'll just have to get into the habit of switching the f*****g thing off every time you start up, that's progress I suppose.

Presumably your daughters car has a manual gearbox?
I cannot get my head around anybody loving start/stop technology the way it is implemented with an automatic gearbox.

Yes it’s a wobbly stick thing. Start stop is ok with that although I wouldn’t want it on an auto

Stop/start is on Auto A180's, my daughters has it but like the rest of us she switches it off at every start. I can't think why anybody would 'Love' it, that is bizarre

Hi. Yes. It’s clear on the rear of the the car. 180d .

So... we simply press the A button first off. We are getting into the habit of it now. The A threw us as we thought it ought to be an E. What does the A stand for?

A is the model designation - the smallest model in the Mercedes range (excluding the smart cars…)

I'm sorry you have me confused now...
You said you "just bought a used A100d", and under your username it lists "A100d 2017"
I questioned this never having heard of an A100d but gave options for what it might be - A180d or A200d.
So i can only assume you have made a mistake in typing A100d twice. :)

I have no idea why the Start/Stop button has an A on it, but it seems to be like this on many cars.
All i can think of is the A stands for Auto (start/stop).

As in, “A that’s a small car”. As opposed to, “Eeee that’s a big car”. Or in between, “C that mid sized saloon over there?”
