HID Xenon Conversion

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a HID Conversion for my 55 plate CLK. I am having some trouble with it and wondered if anyone could shed some light onto it.

Basically I fitted the conversion kit fine but the xenons only work when the ignition is off. Once I start the car, one headlamp will flicker, then the other headlamp will flicker and then they both turn off.

I’m assuming this is down to some sort of modern ECU check or something along them lines?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards
Adam

Is this a branded Mercedes kit or aftermarket?
I would of thought a CLK of this age would of had them fitted as standard equipment, well we live and learn.

Though i don,t know to much about this model CLK, there could be issues as your conversion will not pull as much current as the original lights and this could be causing your problems.
Somebody else with better knowledge of this model maybe able to advise of the next course of action will post soon i,m sure.
Good Luck,

hi i have just had the same problem,i bought a ml that someone fitted xenon light to,and mine did exactly the same ,it is a simple problem to solve, the car needs to be pluged onto a star diagnostics and the headlight setting needs changing so that the ecu knows that it has xenons fitted, look up my post (xenons acting like strobe lights)

I know this is a old thread but found it while searching xenons.

Anyway.... You can buy anti flicker devices that plug on to your kit which solve the problem. Tested on a bmw E46
