Over in the states, MB send out badges to anybody with a high mileage MB. I think thats a great idea, and I want one (178,000).

Anyone know where you can get them from? I think the mentality over here is slightly different - "HOW MANY MILES???!?! Why don't you buy a new car!!!"

More likely a 'Why don't you use public transport, your killing everyone driving that many miles' badge.

Very true, if you look at the signatures on the yank forums a lot of them are driving (particularly diesel) w123s and w126s with 300 or even 400k + on them.

I assume the current holder of the highest mileage lives in USA (Even though he's Greek) .....I somehow cannot see him doing 30 Zillion miles in the Greek islands .........Unless of course it one of them older Amphibious models ..(A dwuck)...........http://www.amphicars.com/acfaq.htm

I have one! I inherited it from my late Grandfather, whom lived in Florida. Not sure how old it is, but it's the 100,000 miles one.

Has anybody tried asking Merc UK (ABDCUKGBLtd or whatever they're called) about them?

I'd have thought they'd be quite keen to promote reliability after their recent form. w0210 rust etc)

There is a Blue Lotus Elan living in Newton Mearns that is about to, if it not already has, hit 500,000 miles.

Lotus are going to try and buy it back from the owner, though I doubt he will sell it. I know the owner from the early 80s and the car was imaculate then as it is now.

He is in his 70's now and has a girlfriend in Cornwall so you will see the car on the M6 etc. a lot. He also still competes in hillclimbs etc.

I spoke to the owner last summer and he admitted that very few parts have made the whole trip...possibly the passenger seat.

A shame this type of award is not available in the UK.

impressive high mileage on a car should only be if the main part of the engine is still original..
If its been rebuilt umpteen times thats sort of cheating ?

Very glad to see this - my 2007 C220CDI currently has 215k on it, and was wondering how much longer it would last.
