High tide in Brittany

Have a prob... probably medical... but the old girl is not 'étanche'... she leaks. There's steering fluid under the car (probably the flexible pipes.... MB France is out of your reach type prices), oil on the ground( sump gasket methinks) and a swimming pool underfoot RHS rear passenger... weeds now found growing in the boot! and under the front wiper motor. Anyone know where I can get some bits? Here in Brittany, old Mercs go to the breakers, but the breakers sell em on to a specialist in Senegal!!!!! (keep t' old dogs rolling in west africa).

I need.... wait for it.... :???: rear hatch struts... lhs front window winding mechanism in electric.... new heater fan (mine says 1986 and sounds like an AK47 in auto mode).... rear wiper motor.... set of new front disks... all four sets of wheel bearings... and a full set of 'repair my poorly W124 rear LHS rubber bushings for the suspension............... :arrow: and....... if anyone knows where I can find...... a modification for the aircon to change from 'orrible R12 gas (€150/ £100 a year garage fees) to newer modern gas... if not, will have to keep running in summer with the windows open.

The old girl is now over 20, with a relatively trouble free 235000 and more since the speedo cable died for a year or two, 250TD, 7 seat, auto in a stately faded blue and rust colour and lives with me here in Saint Malo!

Merc owners in France

I live a bit further south of you, not far from Chatellerault, north of Poitiers. Lived here a year, and bought two RHD cars with us.
After one foray into the MB dealer in Tours, I've been searching for an independent who knows and likes Mercs, and I think I've found one.
He just got the initial Controle Technique for our 1991 230 TE, and has fixed and fiddled around some minor problems, on two occasions didn't even charge me anything... He also replaced the old rusty front wings, sprayed to a highly professional finish, for a total of 680 Euros, so, a good man to know.
It seems to me you need a man like this near you- there must be one in Brittany, surely

Around here there are some very elegant old mercs, so someone is earning a living maintaining them
Just by asking around, as I'm sure you are very well aware, all sorts of little specialists can be discovered.
