Hilarious Stealership prices

I need a load cover for my W124 230TE but the car needs a few more serious things needing done first. My friends wife works for one of the Mercedes Stealerships up here in Scotland. I asked her for a laugh to get me a price for it.

£457.11+vat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You really have to wonder why they charge so much for this. No one in their right mind would pay that! Thats half the price I paid for my car! Even if you had one of the last W124 estates its a hefty chunk of the purchase price.

A secondhand one can be mine for 10% of the price.

Some of the prices are shocking , but , you pays your money , takes your choice...

Im sure it is £500 worth ........ considering the one you have just now is 15 years old.

I was always going to buy a secondhand load cover! I just checked the "new" price out of interest. My point was that on cars the age of mine its not worth buying a new one. Certainly not at a price thats so obviously ridiculously high. I have seen the load cover, if it was gold plated it might just be worth that.

It's Mercedes Benz that make up the costs,not the dealership. They make their 10-15% but thier not the ones who are real earners, it's the people who make our cars the need holding to account.
