T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
10 days ago a numpty is a new (not latest though, but about 54 plate) c class, silver saloon puled out and scraped the entire length of my car...and then the XXXX (idiot) drove off and I didn't get a chance to get his no. My bill is £4,650 +VAT:-(

Can any repairers keep an eye out in the SE Lon / Kent/Sussex area. The driver was dark and about mid thirties. Damage to his will be n/s/f corner.

I know it's a long shot, but worth asking....Grrrrr.

doesnt car insurance cover you ?

Yes, but was emphasising the extent of damage. The net cost to me will be £400 policy excess plus in the region of £350 increased premium as my no claims discount is reduced.

So even though I am insured, I am out of pocket to the tune of £750. Looks like coal and a satsuma for the kids :-(

Damn frustrating. Had similar with a muppet in a micra rear-ending me. I spun round to chase and decided better of it, given the way he was driving away and the traffic. It would have been too dangerous. Got his number and reported him but they couldn't identify the driver. Apparently a lot of these cars are 'shared'. Anyway, I had a visit from a policeman a few weeks later to say that the car had been badly wrecked and they had someone in custody. Not the muppet that hit me sadly but I still felt some satisfaction that they were off the road.

Hi Daeths

Sincerest comisurations, I share you grief and anger. The damage sounds like more than just scratched paintwork?

I assume the numpty or the owner of the other car will submit a claim and therefore one of the MB-approved bodyshops will be getting a new client requiring a matching set of repairs to their car. Since repairs have to be approved, I wonder if the MB approver would be able to help or are they not informed of the nature and extent of the damage?

A short email alerting all the MB-approved bodyshops in the area seems the best approach. The police should be informed too. They might contact the bodyshops on your behalf. They must deal with hit-and-run cases involving injury or fatality and they must have a network setup to alert bodyshops.

If the numpty was driving his father's car (I assume the driver was male) he might be missing a couple body parts himself. Think how he must be feeling now.

REGARDS

Phil

Hi Daeths

Do keep us informed. I'm keen to see how this turns out. Leaving the scene of an accident, even though no one was injured, is a serious matter.

Friendly fire! (Silver on Silver)

Pls publish his details when the claim is through. I suggest he keeps his car for the rest of his days as a reminder and when he services it he has to appologise each time in front of the three pointed star.

Currently awaiting the 28 day rule where the registered keeper admits to driving..or not. Dependent on his approach depends on the timescales for resolution. Eitherway, he's insured and his insurers are obliged to provide TP cover to my vehicle.

Here's hoping I ruined his Xmas:cool:
