Hi,

This is my first post so apologies if I've duplicated an earlier thread. I have a 2001 C Class Coupe with an inoperative horn. I've checked for the obvious, loose wires etc. and found nothing. What I did notice is that when the ignition is on and I press the steering wheel I hear a click from the fuse box (drivers side under bonnet). I am presuming that this is the relay and as such suggests that the steering wheel/horn button is working. What I don't know and hoping to find out is, does it also mean that the relay is working and therefore it is the horn itself which is faulty or is it the relay that is at fault?

Any feedback/advice greatly appreciated

Thanks:confused:

What tends to happen is that over time the diaphragm in the horn siezes and the horn then becomes inoperative.

I'm not sure where they are positioned on the C class (there are two on the E class - one in the offside wing and one by the radiator.

You don't need to spend £40 on an MB one, a £10 horn from any motor factors will do.

Check that there is power to the horn terminals in order to prove that it is the horn that is defective.
