My car is a 2004 e220 cdi w211, says on the data card that it has factory sport suspension, look underneath, shocks and springs.... keep telling myself that the rear looks lower then the front? When unlocking the car the car makes a noise a bit like a pump , quite loud... but I get no warnings on the dash?

The noise you hear is the SBC (brake) pump priming. That is normal.
If you have airmatic there will be a button by the gearshift to raise or lower the car.
If you see normal springs, you don't have airmatic.

Looks OK to me but if you are concerned, get it up on a ramp and inspect the spring cups/springs to see if there is any damage.
Is the car level both sides at the rear or just one side?

No it looks just right.

Update your info to reflect you have this car as well as the E55 and c Class.

Thanks for that guys, no it sits dead level both sides, looked at the suspension today... nothing broken... just thought the gap at the back looked less then the front?

Wondered this recently with my E class . I think if the car is level in the car park and you crouch down 30feet away the tyre to bodywork gap looks correct , but if you stand next to it and look down it never looks correct at the rear .

Are the rear tyres the correct profile , if they have a greater profile than standard then it will reduce the gap between the rubber and the arch.

Also , on the W219 , there are plastic shims located on the top of the rear springs. The more (weighty) options the car has the more shims are fitted , i removed four from mine and it dropped the rear by around 20mm.

Looks fine to me too....if in doubt look underneath- the airmatic struts with boots on are considerably larger diameter than standard!
