Hi, new to site ... just bought 300TE auto estate (1988) and would be very grateful if anyone can advise how I might get hold of owners handbook. Nothing on e-Bay, can'tlocate independent MB garage for help, so hoping someone in this forum can advise.

Many thanks.

many thanks

Andy,
Don't think private message left my machine, so ... many thanks, hugely appreciated. This is my first MB, long lusted after those big estates (have owned superb Saab for last 6 years), now with 4 kids who need the space and I need a car I genuinely desire. Have owned this MB for just two weeks and am struggling with a couple of the buttons and, how embarrasing, can't even find the spare - desparetely need the handbook! Have to say, a little nervous about the thing (what if something goes wrong, etc) but what a sumptous drive and fantastic presence.
Thanks agan,
David

the spare is cunningly hidden in the rear luggage area, open the rear door and on the left hand (passenger) side you will see a little black lever set into the carpet, pull that and the whole side panel will tilt down to reveal the spare wheel

As to running costs, if you are doing the work yourself these estates can be very cheap to run as parts from the dealers are very competitively priced.

Possible major expenses? head gaskets and rear suspension are the two most likely suspects that could end up costing an arm and a leg :)

thanks again

Andy,
FYI rang main dealer this morning who didn't recognise number but was helpful anyway, said he'd located one, would order and call me. Thanks for tips - car's booked into highly reputable independent garage next week for a look over, and I'll ask them to check specifically gasket and rear suspension (plus air vents, which randomly blow hot or cold regardless of setting, and spot of rust under one arch).
