My W210 would drop in and out of limp mode due to the MAF failing, I drove it for a couple of weeks before getting it to the garage although it wasn't in limp mode constantly I doubt it will be an issue for 22 miles. The car has put itself into limp mode for protection purposes so it should be fine.
A switch off and restart should clear the problem for a while, as blobcat I drove mine for a few months with a similar problem ..intermittent.. as it had a few issues happening,
tried lots of (resets) anything i could find on the forums but nothing has worked. there is now a brand new bosch maf, new plugs and air filter / engine oil change, new autobox valve block and electric pack, as well as new autobox plug / socket, new gearbox oil/ filter and gasket. Im still in limp mode but was told that the only way to unlock the limp mode is to have it put on the star equipment and done that way. so wednesday morning its going in for this and fingers crossed my gearbox problems will be solved. then i need to fit new discs and brake pads all round, never ending. my first merc and its busting my wallet, but i do like the car.
Before all the changes you've made it would probably have been wise to have the codes read first. There are some very good independents with the Star diagnostics machine that can read the codes and give you very good advice.
i have been talking to an indie, thats whos going to do the diagnostics on wednesday. the maf was my own choice, the gearbox parts were changed on his recomendations, he even talked me through the change procedure to save me his labour costs.
