I have 2017 E Class estate.
Previous vehicle was M Class with Mercedes Command - traffic congestion was clearly shown on sat nav with red car icons for all stopped and yellow for slow moving.
This new system appears like Garmin or some such.
So far there has been no traffic info on screen on new vehicle - though haven't been in traffic jams in the 7000 miles we've done.
I'm registered and 'active' with Mercedes me for traffic information - how will it be displayed?
Thanks

Not much help but my 2014 COMAND shows the red cars.
My portable garmin shows a red or yellow line (I think) but it shows up in a panel on the right of the screen saying x minutes delay x miles ahead

Maybe you have Garmin instead of Command?

Yes.. Pretty sure it is Garmin.
So wondering how Garmin system delineates traffic congestion visually.

If you go into Nav mode and then press the rotating dial to get the menu up, the bottom "blade" shows two cars. If you pull the rotating knob back, you should get a yellow mark next to this to indicate traffic info is on. The bad news now, gone are the really easy to see red and yellow cars, and instead, there is a coloured band (quite difficult to see and nothing like as clear as the old system) next to the road. Green for clear traffic, amber for slow, and red for serious delays. Not really an improvement in my view ☹

HTH,
Bill

Thanks for that Bill.
Turns out the yellow LED was not lit up.
So we're now set up and we'll see how we get on, but on the face of it a shame that the previous system has gone - it certainly was very efffective and often useful in avoiding a jam.

P.S. What does 'HTH' stand for?

Hope That Helps

I find it's definitely more difficult to spot jams with the new system

The ‘old’ system you speak of is still available, but only comes with certain packs.

I still have it on my ‘66 c250d.

Now fully operational and I have to agree - not as functional and easy to ‘read’ as the previous system.
She’s in for service soon. I may take the opportunity to inquire as to the posssibility of replacing with ‘old’ system.

System worked for first time today.
Verbal indication given to alert us of stationary traffic ahead.
Looking as a result at the sat nav screen we could see it was only a short back up by the red line.
Verbal warning is an improvement on the previous system.

I normally find it announces "End of tailback ahead" just AFTER you pass the motorway junction where you could have come off to avoid it
