Hi

I reckon your sense of uncomfortable will have little to do with the spring - unless it is defective.

It is not an economic process to swap out bits on a whim so I would advise you give the springs a thorough optical bollicking and check they are not cracked. If they are not cracked then leave them in.

The suspension on a Merc is quite sophisticated and relies on numerous bushings which do deteriorate over time and may be the source of your 'discomfort'

Unless you are familar with these cars it may be more economic to get a reputable independant to inspect and report on the suspension components for you - then if you are handy you can set about changing what is required.

Good luck.

thanks

i thank you for the reply. fyi, the w123 was a typo, supposed to be a w124. i realize there are about 4 body mounts, i dont know technically what they are called, but they look similar to the engine mounts, which showed some sign of detr'rn.

anyway, like u said, i will get the car checked by a professional. one thing i am afraid tho, they will always want to change almost EVERYTHING related to the suspension, and would cost me a lot to do so.

i was seduced to changing the coil spring to Eibach Pro-kit, and i thought that would increase body control, reduce body roll, but am not really sure about the ride comfort. would that be changed a lot? i assume it does alter ride comfort to make way for the control expected of a lower ride.

anyway, its just that i feel the thuds and shocks running on uneven road which yesterday, i borrowed a friend's toyota cefiro, and i can feel the difference, ie the cefiro absorb the shocks better.

anyway, my shocks are now the original oem bilstein, black. they are all new. and changing to a new set of tyre last month, DUCARO GA 195/65/15, i was expecting a better ride, but it was a dissapointmnet. and one other thing, my tyre guy said i should put 32psi on the tyres, but i saw on the gas cap, the recommended pressure was 29psi...

ok, thanks for reading, and pls help me a bit here :)

spring

The only time you should have to change a spring if it,s broken or your car is lying down they could last for the life of the car or they could break quite easy if you hit a pothole there is no telling how long they will last
