OK, Next thursday i am driving from broughty ferry to south woodham ferrers with my wife and new born baby for the weekend so my car will be full of prams and clothes etc.

I have a 2000 E320 CDI with 93000 on the clock and was wondering what you all think about how far i will achieve on a full to the brim tank of diesel on our 515 mile journey.

Obviously with my precious cargo on board i will not be hammering it down but i will be driving between 70-80mph. Also, what do you think i should average mpg?

Just thought i'd put the questions out to the floor to see who will be closest. When i return i will be honest and let you all know what we achieved.

Cheers

49.9 is a tad ambitous for a 320cdi with 3 up + luggage,. Mid 40's MPG and IMHO with a derv always leave a 1/4 or so in the tank. I'd fill it near birmingham again.

The 1/3rd one is only tiny ;):D

as your car should be a bit more economical than mine id guess that you should just about make the full 515 mile trip on a full tank if traffic etc is good to you! as my car does just shy of 40mpg, idsay you should get about 45mpg

I think you will get there comfortably and drive around locally for a couple of days before refuelling.

With 160k on a similar car.....

Last week, country roads, air con off, averaging around 45mph, came back after 200 miles showing 45mpg.

Motorway, cruise control, air con off, maxing out at 80, average approx 60mph, around 42mpg.

With roof box, cruise control, air con off, maxing out at 80, average approx 60mph, around 38mpg.

With roof box, cruise control, air con on, maxing out at 80, average approx 60mph, around 34mpg.

With roof box, trailer with bikes on top, fully laden, France, cruise control, air con on full, maxing out at 80, average approx 70mph, around 32mpg.

Answer to question, probably about 40mpg but settle for 38 with aircon on.

I was reading through this thread and was just going to answer with 40MPG, until I got to the last post & you actually got 39.2mpg!

So I was closest, what do I win?
