Used approved - they should check them and fix all BEFORE it goes on the forecourt. It would stop them looking like idiots, and save customer time and stress.
A friend bough a 2017 C220d last year from a MB, when he got home he realised that the passenger seat would not tilt, making it almost impossible to sit in the seat. This made it all the way from checks, test drive. It was only when the wife sat in the seat that they called MB.

Never happens, dealers will invest the least amount of resource into shifting the car that they can get away with.

I wouldn't trust the whole "approved" checklists they have. My father had a VW Passat with the boot light not working from new. It went to VW annually for a service 8 years (he would only use VW) and they ticked the box "boot light check" every time. If they didn't even bother to check that I wonder if they actually removed wheels and checked the brake calipers etc, I very much doubt it and doubt they would bother with any such thing for a used sale either.

I don't get the culture we now live in....

MB found a problem with the car - they were honest about it and are fixing it for him. Seems the delays are beyond their control and are acting in good faith. Why should he go after a "hand out" ?

Used to know a couple who, whenever we went for dinner, angled for something for free.....I find it embarrassing.

The owner is not getting the service he deserves. Who decided the delays are beyond their control? We're not talking about a something-for-nothing attitude like your 'friends', we're talking about customer service. This dealer was quick to take the money and slow to supply the goods - not good enough.

Maybe it was something that unexpectedly went wrong. However I believe that MB only do their check once the car is sold and not waste money on a car that might get moved on to a wholesaler or elsewhere.

These days, everybody seems to be looking for a handout.....and ask for handouts for the slightest issue --- "my steak was over cooked" - I want a discount/ free pud/coffee (but he ate the whole thing) and then , in the next breath they whine because "everything is so expensive".

@McDonald from what I read, they are doing everything they can to sort his problem.

There is a preconception that if it’s on the forecourt for sale it can be driven away within a week which is understandable and obviously not the case

But if you’ve paid for something and have to wait weeks for it, it’s very annoying. The dealer is making thousands on the sale, a small gesture by way of apology is a small and cheap way of engaging with the customer. Maybe they could actually offer delivery? Or a ceramic coating polish- or a free detailing voucher from a ‘local to you’ location? They’ll get all of it at trade cost, and show some degree of care for the worry you go through.

I agree that a gesture by the dealer would be excellent - but (IMO) it shouldn't be asked for. There are posts implying that compensation should be asked for.

I've reached the point that I am worried about complaining about something in case they think I'm after a handout!

Exactly this. I do quite a bit of work for an independent sales garage, quite busy - 85-90 cars sold per month. It took me a while to educate them. Even if you don't do the work straight away, at the very least properly assess each car taken in to stock to establish exactly what it needs doing to prepare it for point of sale. That way everything is covered, including the sticker price. Nothing worse than agreeing a deal with a customer, then discovering at pdi that it needs a grand spent to bring it up to scratch.
The aforementioned outfit is currently on the up and up. Online reviews are brilliant and yours truly actually receiving some kudos for it too!! Woo hoo!

Well the saga continues.

Drove down Saturday Afternoon and stayed overnight.

Arrived at the dealers at 10:30, did all the paperwork to swap the cars.
Then headed home.

15 Miles later, outside lane of M6, we get ESP warning and limp mode with no throttle response.
Make it to the hard shoulder, and turn engine off/on. Clears ESP warning and replaces with check engine light.

Return to dealer using the A6 to be safe, and am now home with a E220d coupe customer loan car.

They are planning to check what the problem is, and deliver the car to us.

At least the run home was at 40+ mpg not 10+ mpg.

Providing the supplier continues to support you and remedy the issues with the car to your satisfaction is probably the best you could hope for as I assume from Saturday you are now the legal owner.
Have you made any attempts to contact the previous owner to inquire of any history the car has?
The Dealership failed miserably to deliver a car to you Fit for Purpose, document everything, keep receipts and take lots of photos, for your records as a precautionary measure. I would additionally review the Sales Agreement, take professional advice if needed to identify your get out opportunities for surely, these will diminish as time goes by.

same issues with a car i am about to purchase of a MB dealership. My sales guy has given me a loan car till my car gets sorted out..

Have you contacted Bogus7430 and compared notes?

I sincerely hope it all gets resolved and soon.

I would have lost all faith in the car and dealer by now, no car is worth this hassle, you are after all doing the dealer a favour in buying the car. Even after I had bought the car I would be thinking what else would go wrong. You may have the loan car, but you've got to waste more time in getting back to pick up your car, are they going to reimburse the fuel you've used?

Yes we are now the legal owners, of a car we used for a whole 30 minutes. And of course no longer the owner of the car we drove there in.

V5 document now no longer display the previous owners of the car due to GDPR regs.
Anyone know LT08 LDO / LX08 UWM ?
On the OASIS report is was delivered as LX but now wears LT, it might have had a personal plate on it at sometime.

The plan is for them to deliver the car to us, and pick up the loan car. (Its 340 miles one way to the dealer)

The good thing would be that any faults then would have to be sorted by the local dealer, who is an AMG dealer, not them who are just MB. And the hope is they would know that that would cost them money so they will fix it this fully this time.

Waiting a phone call from the workshop/salesman to let me know the diagnosis.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have 30 days in which you can reject for a full refund for any problem.

After 30 days and up to 6 months they have one opportunity to fix it before you can get a refund (not a full refund because you will have had usage for a period. Don't know what the equation is for calculating the refund.)

The LX plate doesn't look like it could be personal plate, I would ask the dealer why the plate is different, it wouldn't be the first time a car has had the wrong plate put on it although the LT plate does appear to be correct.

That sucks I hope they get it sorted quickly. It also happens on brand new cars....my son collected a brand new E53 AMG Coupe (3 delays on delivery date and other nonsense as well) and got a few miles down the road and had a problem......fortunately, they were able to fix it while he waited.

Phone call last night it's fixed.

Phone call this morning it's broken again.

Travelling down on Friday to return customer loan car, and can always get home by train if needed.

Think its time to start looking at other brands of car. Pity as all previous Mercs have been great.

Sounds like they need a specialist to look at it
