Good stuff, SteveyT. Great car, great engine. I was twice your age when I got my 210, and it lacks two cylinders in comparison with yours!

Coming out so far at about 45% aged 40 or under. Success coming earlier than in the past?

And still got to remember we aren't talking age of first Mercedes here but age of current owners, who may be on 2nd, 5th or who knows which Mercedes.

Still showing tiny percentage of retired people able to, or choosing to, afford?

I am amazed you can get insurance under 25 on such a beast! Expensive?

Hey guys, Now 44 but with four Mercedes in ownership so far....

My previous G-Wagen

a6382

Born in Graz, Austria in 1984. First registered in Braunschweig in the same year. Imported into Spain in 1994, when it was registered with Madrid numberplates. I bought it in January 1996 and when we moved to England in September 1998 the G came with us. Registered in Godalming, England in January 1999. I sold it in October 2003 to a Romanian then residing in Ireland who subsequently planned to take the G to Romania with him. Current whereabouts unknown. Still sorely missed!

TPO

Born in Graz, Austria in April 1991. Registered in Mönchengladbach, Germany in May 1991. Last German owner resided in Körschenbroich, not that far away from Mönchengladbach and bought the G in December 2001.

A lovely 1997 W202 C-180 Estate Auto which I owned for four years with no expense other than the normal maintenance (picture attached). I only sold it because it was RHD and we were moving back to Spain....

My current G-Wagen

GW125

Bought in June 1002 by an American then residing in the UK as part of his plans to move to Eastern Europe who registered the car in Billericay, UK.

GW114

I bought the G off him in January 2003 and when we moved back to Spain in September 2005 the G came with us. Registered in Madrid, Spain in January 2006.

GW501

GW500

And the newest acquisition:

A 1999 ML320 in ver good condition that will free the family GWagen from the wife's hands and the daily school run so that it can now be exclusively dedicated to the off-road fun....

This is our new 1999 ML320, which we have bought in October 2007

ML001

Very clean and tidy, with brand new Michelin 4x4 rubber and a new paintjob

Thanks for watching!

My first car was a Red Singer roadster, looked like an MG TA, very few were made, must be worth a bomb if it is still around. It had a 1 litre over head cam engine and did 65 mph.
The car had so little power we had to put it in reverse to extract ourselves from the beech up an incline in Cornwall, happy days.

I am 66 years old, what car would a guy my age buy, well I bought a C class coup`e, it did not give me a buzz, so I sold it, can you believe the purchaser brought £22,000 in a Tesco carrier bag and put it on my kitchen table.
After the merc I came across the icon of design, a TT, once inside the car I was sold, it was a dream, I felt 25years old, the salesman said take the car for as long as you like, can you believe that, I gave it a right good thrashing, then ordered one, loved it and still do, then came the mistake, I ordered the MK2 TT, when it arrived I hated it, I drove it kept it for six months still hated it, finally put it on EBAY and sold it.
We now come to the present, my dear wife had always fancied the SLK, I also liked the look of it so I went for a test drive. the first was the auto 2.0, this was slow, gear changes took for ever. not for me. Then came a 3.5 auto, swift but did not like or want the auto box, I then drove a 2.8 manual, that was the one, fantastic looks, plenty of power and a super manual box.
I like the merc almost as much as my MK1 TT.

My first car was a 'Z Cars' Zodiac.

I was terrified.

I'd learned on a Viva, taught by the first woman instructor the driving school had ever employed. I passed first time. She kissed me!

By the way, littlebrooklyn, I did grow up once.

Didn't like it.

Went back

I'm 37 and have been an SLK driver for 2 years.

Since my early 20s I've had Japanese cars though. At 23 I bought a Toyota Carina E GTi (the rare one with the 173 BHP Celica engine). I've been through 2 Supras and a 300zx twin turbo.

I still have the 300zx as I could not bear to part with it. It's not the usual junk that litters Ebay or Auto trader; but a rare UK spec with 1 previous owner, low mileage and in good original condition. Plus in the 5 or so years I have had it, it has never gone wrong.......unlike the SLK ;)

Oh No, I am one of the biggest average age groups - 37 is not that old - no need for a comb-over yet - all my own hair - and teeth!!

Yes and actually 36 to 40 is the biggest 5 year group. The 56 to 65 group looks big but worth noting it is twice the size as it covers 10 years of age and not the usual 5.
