Always a good idea to start any enquiry with your exact MB model with its age. Saves time and possible erroneous information. e.g. if you read the posts Malcolm suggested you will notice later MB auto transmissions do not have a torque converter drain plug and require a different technique to change the fluid completely. AND DON'T repeat don't overfill as that can damage the box as much as underfilling it. Follow the instructions on checking the level exactly.

Dont over tighten the sump bolts, they strip very easy, and make sure you wear a rain mack, you will get drips of oil everywhere!!

Oh, and remove the filter with a long bar, it also hold a load of oil!!

Good luck!

Good point,, the drain plugs were being phased out in 1999 so, and no cars had them after 09-99

Hi
I have a e320 2007 CDI with no gearbox dipstick? Is the ATF easy to change in this type of box? Thanks for the advice.

You'll have a seven speed gearbox.
The answer is no, it's not easy for home servicing., unfortunately.
Best to find a good Indie who will do it for you.

Messy and horrible and relatively difficult without the right tools...so find an Indy would be my advice anyway

I can recommend ACMS in Walsall. Not too far from Cov. I take my W204 there. They are conscientous and tenacious in sorting out troublesome issues. As a guide last week they did me an MOT, A service, brake fluid, rear pads, and an ATF fluid and filter change on my 5G with parts I provided, for 500 quid. They also repacked my front bearings and didn't charge me for that.
