How to fix 230 boot leaks (new version)

I need to read this entire thread but quick question.

When I part open the roof as shown above, I know that it will automatically move after a few seconds.

When I add the piece of wood to hold it, will it still move in that position and if it does will it cause damage, or does it stop the pump when it feels a bit of resistance?

It moves from gravity as pressure is released from the system.
