How do I get into my bonnet without access to the inside of the car?

I have a 2000 cl500. After the battery dying every day I applied the MY01 update and it was fine for a couple weeks, now it has just gone dead [after only 1 day of not driving], with the only spare key inside [i know i'm dumb] and i only have the keyless card.

I'm gonna order a replacement blade key [aparently only £10?] but it will take a couple weeks and I need the car now!

Any suggestion will help. I've heard about external charge points? [just to get power to open boot to charge battery] Or some way of getting into bonnet?

cheers

No - you need something that is permanently energised. The parking sensors are switched off so the power won't reach the electrical system (and in any case you're more likely to just blow the control module). The only thing I can think of would be to jack it up, support it, and see if you can reach the main feed for the starter motor.
I believe that this is a straight feed from the battery without switches or relays in the way. You'll also be in a good place to get an earth.

Should we really be giving this information to somebody who has only just registered?

It will only help to energise the battery - not get them in. Most cars actually lock by default when the power is reconnected - as I found to my cost when reconnecting the battery on my Granada (with my only key in the ignition) so it's no use as a break in method! He'll still need the key or fob.

relacment key blade £24 + 1 week wait, or locksmith £75 and about 30 seconds. He didn't ask for any proof of ownership.....Just put a wedge thing in the window to pry it open a touch, and stuck a coat hanger in to pull the door hande open [mercs don't have dead locks!].

easy peasy. to think i was considering breaking the window to get it [until i found out they cost £800- just for the rear side one!!]

cheers 4 the help.

any ideas about the battery drain?
