I'm going to sign up on something like https://evogo.co.uk/cars

How would I get insurance on something like this?

Would it be for rental?

And any ideas of temp insurance to get for this? Has to be fully comprehensive though

So, this essentially is a medium term car rental service, vs ownership or PCP lease?

It would be wise for Evogo to offer insurance as well, as I imagine it could get complex.

However, I would get an insurance quote as normal, just make sure you answer the vehicle ownership questions correctly.

Evogo appears to be part of the Mike Brewer empire and seems to get good feedback (apart from the usual whines about not calling back, charged for excess mileage/ damaged tyres/scratched bodywork, could not get finance etc). People obviously solve the insurance issue somehow, but the whole thing is a bit of an anathema to me. Clearly works for a lot though.

Yes I did, but insurance on normal is like 2k for the year. I'm looking for something short term like 1 month insurance or monthly insurance.

Tempcover.com but it will be more expensive.

Keep in mind, if you cancel a years policy, you will get a refund back. If you pay monthly, you wont have a large outlay then refund etc. There will likely be a cancellation fee etc, but often not massive.

Would it not be cheaper and easier to hire a car for these terms? What benefit do you see from going the Evogo route?

I have contacted TempCover

They said "I’ve had a look at the website you’ve provided and these seem to be rental vehicles as opposed to lease vehicles. Our insures are unable to cover any hired or loaned vehicles (i.e. Vehicle Rentals, Vehicle Salvage/Recovery Agents, Credit Hire Vehicles/Companies and Accident Management Companies), and so if you are looking to obtain temporary insurance on any of the aforementioned types of hire vehicles, I’m afraid we couldn’t look to cover this."

Have you asked Evogo who they suggest?
