As far as I can see you have CIS injection.

Most common fault for high idle goes up to 1k and down again = throtle switch

correct me by all means - but CIS was phased out over here well before 1984 (the year of mfr of this vehcile) - in the UK, but still availible in the states as CIS. AFAIK its KE jetronic

eg:-
CIS:-

NOTE the biggest difference (well, the only real difference) is the CONTROL UNIT...

Off the top of my head I would have said KE the same as Stuart Hayes car.
I set out to check accuratly. When I feed in the car as a 126036 that has engine 117961 and 965.
using the engine number as 117963 that only comes up in car number 126044 fitted to a 500sec.
The numbers do not add up. yes the KE was used over here on the 116, the CIS ran well into 87 in some countries.

If it is KE I can let Charlotte borrow to photo copy 22 pages of service info as long as they are returned.
Maybe I can send a KE photo to identify what is on the car, or can Charlotte put a photo up
Thank you guydewdney.

Update time

I believe the fuel system to be CIS mechanical the same as the 450 Series engine (117 I believe) I have an old manual of the 450, checking the fuel system it appears the same. I have also found one of the two jubilee type clips to have failed in a major way, although I cannot remove this.

Is it possible to remove the fuel distributor without removing the inlet manifold ?

Yes I would like to borrow your manual. Can the fuel system be identified from it's serial code?
