My 2009 W204 C220 CDI has a faulty rear SAM (apparently). We have a replacement but the boot won't open, neither by fob or using the remote button on the driver door. Does anyone have an idea how to get the boot open please?

TIA.

No key on boot

There is no key socket on the boot for this car. It's an electronic lock.

Are you 100% sure theres no manual key override with the blade from your key?? In most Merc's its where the rear numberplate lights are, so a getting on your knees job.

Personally I can't tell if this is a W204 C class but google image results brought up this pic which shows a key override on the left hand side.

Also bear in mind that the boot / tailgate has it's own control ECU to compliment the rear SAM unit - http://www.xedos.com.pl/allegro/michal/2012/08-29/2/2012-08-29-030.jpg

I cant see there not being a manual override. It's too much effort even for Mercedes not to put it there.

Well, well, well.

If I hadn't seen the location of yours and confirmation from people here then I'd never have known. My car has black trim and the key slot an surround is black too. The slot itself was covered in dirt and virtually invisible until I touched tat location, the black soot came off and there is was! Thanks all!

Nw all I need is to find any instructions or precautionary notes before swapping the SAM over. Then I need someone to programme it...

Programmed

Yes, so fit then have someone programme it. The replacement is from the same car model. Some things might not work but at least the lights, etc will?
