I don't see why I should keep this to myself..
I used to do a 400 mile round trip to Wheels in Motion for my 4 wheel tracking to be done..
Anyone in the Lancashire area can benefit from the same Hunter alignment setup from the address below..

Quicksave Motorist Centre
10 St Albans Road
Lytham St Annes
Lancashire
United Kingdom
FY8 1UB

Tel: 01253 784600 (Lytham St Annes)

I have no connection at all with this company.
I thought its good to know of somewhere "local" for the 4 wheel tracking service.
My car has the rear drivers side done and both front wheels...

Its not necessarily the equipment, but the skill and knowledge to use it properly.
I had always planned to make a trip to W.I.M, perhaps I will one day as the nearest to me isnt that far.
However a branch of a famous tyre chain much closer to me also has the same machine, and they are totally useless. For the cost of 70 quid, I drove less than a mile before the compulsion to go back, and whack the completely misaligned steering wheel over the managers head took over.
As they were by now close to going home I had to wait untill the weekend and make another journey there.
The wheel was aligned but still pulled slightly.
Not very many months later, I had the esp fault and finally solved it by replacing the clock spring.
Coincidence sure.
But in my eyes, you pay for expertise and quality of service. Not the name above the door.

Well this guy in St Annes knew his stuff..
I have been to Wim twice and the guy in St Annes twice..
He was spot on and I have the print out so I know very well that its spot on.
WIM being close and £70 is all very well..
But I would have to ad £75 in fuel to that which I refuse to do...

My last visit to WIM put me right off as he tightened up the front wishbones with the wheels dangling.. Very bad practice !!!
I undid them when I got home to be greeted with a loud BANG as the bushes unwound themselves !

But as you say we must go to who we feel confident in..
I am confident in the guy in St Annes !

I have visited WIM in Chesham and they were excellent. Took them 30 minutes to find a shaking issue that had been driving me mental for a year. Back wheels were out of balance by 100 grams!

In and out in 30 minutes and I was one happy camper. If you were a member on here, you would have known I even replaced the propshaft to try and fix it!

When I was in the Blackpool area last year, I had to get a front tyre in a hurry and used this place. All was ok.

They have tyhe equipment and can be found via align mt wheels at ADR Macclesfield.
On the principle of recommendation they most certainly don't have mine.

Last year the aligned mine. The steering wheel was out and of course so was the straight line drive, it pulled severely to left.

I returned, their organisation had the pre fix of dis. After waiting for 2 hours I wandered into the workshop area. The mechy lay under the front of my car with spanners "nearly there". When asked if it would now go back on the Hunter he said there was no need,
"what was the frickin point in using it in the first place then" said I ?

I could go on with this story but the upshot is that I would rather the school leaver at Kwik Fit did my car than them.
So the machine is no good if in the hands of a monkey.

While they do the adjustments the Hunter system shows in real time info on what difference the adjustments are making on the screen. It doesnt 'go back on the Hunter system'.

Hunter are not the only 4 wheel alignment equipment that should be used on cars.. There are lots of quality 4 wheel alignment systems out there and as said only as good as the operator using the equipment.. must admit most of it seems to be Italian.

I'm up in the north west at the mo and I'm going to give these guys in Lytham a go. Currently experiencing offside front inner tyre wear, nearside is fine. That pothole a while ago must have been worse than I thought, after 4 years of straight running :(
