Would you guys consider a V12 to be investment grade? Bit early? I think the later ones would be much more so...considering they are the last of the MB V12 party..

The 600 is a comparatively rare beast hence it's value now compared to V8s.
As to the future values that's anyone's guess but as a guide check r129 600s Vs r129 V8s

I wouldn't hold out hope of any investment potential, although lack of any further depreciation is within the bounds of possibility. I'm living in hope that the owner in our area who spent £186000 on his R231 SL65 fairly recently might get bored and flog it for cheap. Unlikely I suspect. MB only seem to have flogged about 6 of these in the UK, but I suspect massive depreciation will still be the main problem.

Fair enough.. I would still expect some depreciation on something that fresh, but i'm talking about a much older R230.. I know nothing about depreciation or so called "curves" but people like to talk about the bottom, appreciation etc..

For me, I don't necessarily mean appreciation in terms of investment. If something is even neutral on depreciation I consider that a pretty significant bonus.

I wouldn't buy a car with hope of making a positive return and also hope to drive it. It's just a consideration really. The chance of bot losing a bucket of cash on something definitely softens the blow.
