I sat in car and chatted to friend on hands free for a few mins now car is dead and I'm stranded..

I'm down the pub now waiting for my "Streetwize emergency jump starter and power bank" to charge past "3 LEDs" on the charge indicator. :(

That's what I get for not signing up to the breakdown assist a few weeks ago when I decided it was a good idea...

Not bought yet lads.

There is a silver with red interior SL 600 on AT, having done a quick investigation -- it hasn't been taxed since January 2018. MOT expires July 2020 though. MOT says it's only done 300 miles since March 2018.

Yer man is asking £18,995.

Now we are still in hypotheticals here, what is this car actually worth in opinions. I will agree it is overpriced. But what is worth.

Considering - no use in 2 years (red flag), valid MOT. V12 engine.

I know it has some concerns but without viewing, what do you think. You know it could be in decent nick and the ABC could have been properly maintained...

Just wondering.

According to AutoTrader, it's been listed for sale since 22 November 2017. Surely this dealer needs to take a hammering on this and write it down. Pretty sure if it was a public company they would be forced to write down something like this.. regardless of what they paid for it? I wonder what he paid for it back in 2017? (Unless it is actually worth this much..)

oh they look awful ! Alloys on the bottom SL picture are the worst ive seen fitted to one
Genuine Brabus R129 3 piece split rims - prefer the AMG in the first pic, but I have seen worse....

They can't be R129 rims. R129s are M12/R12 wheels and bolts whereas R230s are M14/R14 wheels and bolts.
You can fit M14 wheels to M12 cars using special bolts but not the other way around.

They can't be R129 rims. R129s are M12/R12 wheels and bolts whereas R230s are M14/R14 wheels and bolts.
You can fit M14 wheels to M12 cars using special bolts but not the other way around.
They were Brabus Monoblock IV - we did use some wheel adapters, can't remember what exactly, but it was a bit of a faff...

The V12 mentioned previously for 11/11.5 K is currently waiting an ECU replacement, because the "ignition protocol" was wrong....

I thought these engines were bullet proof.. what's that all about? I know ECU isn't engine.. or is it?

I think some of the prices quoted for ABC pumps are a bit out of date, MB now offer factory refurb ABC pump for around £500 with a 2 year warranty.
Valve blocks usually can be rebuilt with Viton o rings and a kit is around £80.

I think that the system is much better understood by indies now, and not such the terrifying thing it once was. 3yr pentosin change and filter, and it should be good for a long time.

The V12s can cook their ignition amplifiers, £1200 per bank :eek:

Interesting.. there does seem to be an great amount of info online about ABC now and I believe various bits can be refurbished.

Like you say, I see the valves can have o-rings replaced, which I would be happy to do. Ball joints in struts can be injected with new resin (provided they aren't too far gone..). I also see the V12 IC Packs can be refurbed too.

I also saw a guide online from a French guy who replaced the turbine in the PSE pump at a cost of about 100 odd quid and a few hours work.

I'm starting to get a kick out of the DIY element.. I must admit, I think that is something I am re-discovering in myself. When I was much younger I used to love tinker and taking things apart. This could be a good thing for me.

Oh i'm convinced buddy.. Remaining question is the number of cylinders.. 8 or 12. I want 12.. if I can find something worth buying i'll be all over it.

Jesus.. you guys! I only bought my last motor on January 26.. who the hell buys two cars in one year? Sheesh :D
