Hi Guys, during the Christmas hols, I took the plunge. I had a perfectly good engine and interior on a 123 230E rust bucket. I bought a dead 280E that had been dry stored and total rust is nil. I took the 230 engine and interior and put it into the 280. Had to do all the door linings parcel tray the lot as the 280 was blue and the 230 beige. The engine and gearbox went in easily and appart from the starter being on the wrong side all else is okay. The big problem is the drive shaft and final drive. The 280 shaft is about 4" to short and I have now disposed of the 230. The next thing that came to mind is"does the 280 have a different final drive from the 230. The cars are only a year apart in age however the 230 was made in SA and the 280 here. any ideas on how I go about sorting this out, other than trying to find another 230 doner? Thanks

Tim, thanks for the input. I went back to the breaker on Sat morning and they had not yet crushed the car, so allowed me to take the whole driveshaft. I hope to get the old girl moving this weekend. Regards
