Well lucky ole me you may say !!!!!!!!!!!!!

No seriously fer a mo here...........as you know I recently bought a C240 Sport having driven it fer many miles I noticed one of the interior lights was out (front near the mirror) ......Ohhhhh!! just a bulb I thought ........It was just a bulb ...but me being as ham fisted as I am i broke a clip off the light fixing........................now!!!!!!...........since doing this I have noticed a "whirring" sound coming from a small slotted vent just in front of the interior light switches....i'm thinking (from the sound) it's a "fan" of some kind?????

So WHAT IS IT & WHAT DOES IT DO ????????????

All replies on a postcard to "Clueless of Fleetwood" Ltd

Cheers guys

Keith

It's called an aspheric motor. You can replace it yourself. To test if it is efficient enough, tear off a piece of paper 1.5 inch square. Start the car up & hold the paper to the vent, it should stay there. Switch the car off & it'll fall. If it passes this test & you can put up with the noise, leave it.

If you havn't noticed it, you've nothing to worry about. It's located in the interior light assembly near the mirror, behind the vents/slots.

Type49...........Cheers mate ..I've just cut meself a 1.5 inch square of paper & gone out to the car (******* Note to self DO NOT buy house next to beach when I sell this one !!!***** ) struggled forward into teeth of force nine gale whilst being pelted with sand, sea & all that horrid white stuff that blows off the sea when it's stormy, now cannot feel hands or face & have lost 1.5 inch square of paper.......Now look like Capt Ahab chasing Moby dick ...BUT... located my 1.5 inch paper & carried out test as per instructions given by type49

I am pleased to report my "thingy" sensor is working perfectly i however am typing this on my laptop enroute to hospital suffering from hypothermia & sand blasting rash !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I will sleep soundly in my hospital bed knowing I have a fully working "THINGY SENSOR"

sme sound in 300d

I got that buzzing sound too, i mentioned it before in a post but no comments came back on that particular query. Thing is, i got an old 1989 300D, the noise comes from interior light by the rear view mirror and also from the passenger side air vent when ignition is on.
