Come on forum we can get to the bottom of this!

Let's look at the symptoms.

Really hard bang if you switch off the car without going into park first, way more than prawl thing, like you have been hit at 40mph.

Once it has banged really hard on me on the motorway again like I'd been hit at 30 from behind.

If I put the car in manual and set off without changing gear on light throttle if feel like it's changing half a gear, like a slipping clutch, change into second and it does it.

Ticking faster than wheel speed as per vid at low speed

Ticking on engine shutdown like something is slowing down, its not the turbo.

If I'm turning right or left off a main road into a side street and I'm coasting then I go for power there is a delay in pick up.

All in all not a smoot box

Abs and traction occasionally kick in at low speed shortly followed by a warning that and traction and run flat isn't working. This shows as low input to abs sensor (been leaving it until this other gets sorted)

I can't see the video either. The half gear thing you describe is the TC lock up clutch operating, and is normal. If you have a known ABS sensor fault I'd get that fixed first, as they can make the gearbox behave strangely. I'd also check your tyre sizes are correct, as mismatched rolling diameters will cause similar problems. You describe noise in the box when spinning the wheels in neutral, presumably with the engine off. This worries me a bit. I'd expect to hear some noise as there is a fair bit of stuff going round. Hard to say if what you are hearing is normal or not. The most common thing I have replaced is the torque converter. These give a funny gearchange when knackered. Each change has a judder following it, a bit like a cattle grid noise, but more gentle.

Could have something to do with the selector unit on the side of the box like the park pin is not retracting properly

No. The park pawl operates on the output shaft so would not make a noise when the car is stationary.

That would be easy to pin point where the noise is coming from, nothing would be spinning at the rear of box?

Had it up on MY ramp today with 2 very experienced mechanics underneath it.

The TC was stopped when the noise was coming on shutdown.

They could get one click with car running foot on brake and moving from N-D and N-R.

it still made the noise car off, in N spin rear wheels and it makes it, its slower than Prop speed.

It did something very strange. Was put in P and we tryed to spin the wheels by hand something sounded like it energised the rears wheels made a jarge thud and it stopped making the noise. Started the engine and switched off - noise gone.

Put back into N re spin wheels and noise gone.

Switched off and noise appeared again. Re spun rear wheel and noise back!

It looked like someone has had the selector box off at some point or tryed too which rouse our suspicion.

I did a scan and this came up

ISM Shift modual - and implausible right fron wheel speed signal was received.

Tbf I think I'm giving it back but I want to at least know what it is

noise at 54 seconds sound like the ISM where you are changing gear with the column switch and is 100% normal !!!

3 or so ticks around 5 seconds no idea

the rear clunking about on full on abuse is normal, its the diff bushes slightly worn.... 4 years on mine never makes the sound as it only does it under extreme abuse when the TC is arguing with 386 bhp and first gear with warm tyre and dry tarmac

the TC falls to bits. a standard Merc feature and the elecro plate is also DTF

trusting this car with a garage that does Lamborghini's, is about at much good as taking it to some guy who last worked on a 1979 Skoda rapide with a 12v test light

there will be codes his 15 quid kit just doesn't know what they are

Hahahaha
Tbf since then it's been to 2 indi garages and both can't say what it is.

Driving me potty.

Ive written to the dealer now to try and fix the issue or give the car back.

I'm going to put the car on my own ramp (I'm a detailer not a mech) and I'll do a better video so it may be more clear.

Please watch out for it as I need all the help I can get with this thing!
