At present I have 17inch wheels but I've seen some 18 inch wheels. Front alloy: 8J X 18H2 ET45 Rear alloy: 8.5J X 18H2 ET48 Part number: A2074010000 I don't know if they'll fit my SL500 (R230) and if any function will be lost. Advice please.
Standard 18" wheels for an SL (R230) should be..... Front 8.5J x 18 ET35 Rear 9.5J x 18 ET40 However there is some leeway on the offsets, just dont go too far.
You'll probably be fine with the ride on 18's but I'd hold onto the 17's for a few months at least just to be sure.
My figures are 30 and 33 for offset....? http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wheels/sl_class_r230_alloys/18_amg_iii_wheel_117
I was quoting the normal Avior wheel which most R230 have as an option. http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/me...class_r230_alloys/18_mercedes_avior_wheel_204 ET's vary a little.
These are my 19" wheels except my ET's are 25 front and 28 rear. http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wheels/sl_class_r230_alloys/19_amg_iii_wheel_302
I got Aviors, came with the car but they been painted a silver to tidy up to sell and they did a rubbish job. i painted my my x-type 10 spokes a ford graphite grey metallic, quite dark and they looked great against metallic Aegean Blue body. I really need them looking better, soo annoying Any suggestions anyone against TellurSilver?? car does have a hue of Blue at times, to me anyway
I was looking at the AMG IIIs which are another common fitment. AMG IVs are 28/33 so yes a lot of (subtle) variation. The ones on our 230 are 25/28 http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wheels/sl_class_r230_alloys/19_amg_iv_2pc_wheel_289
AMG 18" VI, £3250 fitted. I'm dreaming! I'll watch ebay over the coming months. I'm sure I'll find something good.
I have the 18" Avior wheels on my lowly Telurium silver (blue tint hue to hit) SL350, they'd been refurbished with silver powder coat prior to my purchasing the car. Personally I like silver but I think anthracite or graphite grey would look nice, I'm not a fan of black wheels. Now I know it hasn't got a big V8 in it but the car rides fine on 18" wheels, no harsh crashing and banging, unlike the awful 19" wheels that were on my R129 before I changed them stock 17's.
