I think they could offer the Garmin with a dock for say £500-£550 (nice profit there) and the COMAND for those who prefer it and are happy to pay over £2,000. IIRC they did offer the Garmin with a dock on the facelift A class and B class? That was in the Press release for the facelift but whether or not it came to the UK I don't know.
I think Tom Tom is similar in many ways but not as good IMO. Tried both; found Garmin better. And Halfords said the Garmin is much more reliable. Most airlines and large ships use Garmin navigation equipment.
Yes, but the POI warnings on Garmin are no where as good as TomTom, my garmin warns me about POI that are on the other side of the road and its quite long winded converting csv to gpx then to gpi format, with TT, you download the OV2 files, copy them to the map folder and thats it.. Do you watch the Gadget Show? they did a test of the best (from the presenters point of view) sat navs, and Garmin was slow to capture the sats, got lost, said he was in a dead end when he clearly wasnt, TT had none of these issues
