I've bought an extremely nice lhd W124 E300 estate in Germany which looks (and drives) like new and will I think/hope see me out. Repainted, fsh, 280k km, new front leather (when converted to heated seats a year ago), Becker navi, and every (I think) extra except ortho seats and memory and including two sets of wheels and new summer and winter tyres.

But I'm still puzzled. The build sheet says the car is end Jan 1994, though it wasn't sold and first registered until the end of the year. It has the front wing grilles which I thought meant it is a multivalve but the private German vendor said it isn't because it's a turbo and he says they didn't make turbos on the multi-valve engine. In terms of the build date it would appear to be pretty close to the change-over. Is he right about turbos and multivalves? The VIN is WDB1241931F283691.

UK RHD cars were 606 Multivalve only. I think I am right in saying that LHD European cars were made in both E300 Diesel 606 Multivalve non-turbo and E300 TDT 603 turbocharged versions
