I read that a couple of days ago, what a shocking history of accidents he has.
My son-in-laws father who is 85 still likes to think he's a boy racer and even though he sold his last bike during the summer he still drives his car as though he was on a track.
Petty help anyone who gets in his way

Disqualified driver
he has had plenty of chances to amend his ways, he is clearly a man with no moral standards or remorse. none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes and alas these can end tragically, but after one act of stupidity that ends so tragically, a decent person would not do the same again, he has, he deserves locked up for life.

If I'm reading that correctly, first time he killed someone he got £2,500 fine and banned for 3 years, second time he got £250 and banned for three years...

Why is this man not in prison?

How does he live with himself after killing 3?
AIUI, he didn't- the other guy did.
I'm not excusing the guy; I'm merely pointing out that he's been found not guilty of what you suggest & therefore should not be punished for what someone else did, only for his own actions.

Nowt yet...
Things like this really annoy me. This guy after killing 3 people has the audacity to drive like a 17 year old thinking he's Lewis Hamilton. If this happened in Europe he would be locked up for the rest of his life or at least the majority of it.

Is this a bike related thing? One of my neighbours is a retired biker - ex. racer etc., He walks with a limp due to crashing his bike years ago, has an RS Ford Escort - modified, comes out of his drive, and boots it down the street - a 20mph cul de sac! why?? what's he proving?? there are pets, children etc., in the street but does this slow him down ? no.:?::?: He is not a young man either.

A chain round the back axle and onto a lamp post would sort that

It tells you a lot about Duffus, his first accident he walked away while his passenger was dying. Hope this helps

This guy after killing 3 people
Read what I wrote in the post before yours; he hasn't killed 3 people. I appreciate that this fact doesn't suit you, but it's the truth.
By all means suggest lynching the pillock, but only for what he did, not for what he didn't do.

I love the lynchmob mentality that disregards the facts in favour of emotive ranting.

No, I don't believe it has anything to do with being an ex biker, as there are not enough ex bikers in the country to make up the number of irresponsible idiots seen driving cars and vans on our roads; the majority of these are not young either.

I can not condone anyone driving driving as recklessly as the guy in your street, but how does the fact that he used to race motorcycles in anyway affect his mindset?

Have you ever asked him how he came to crash his bike when he injured his leg? I'll lay odds of 10:1 that the crash was caused by the careless driving of another vehicle.

I say this because in 20 years of motorcycling the 5 "accidents" I was unfortunate to be involved in were caused by the misdemeanors of the driver of a 4 wheeled vehicle:

1/ Lost it on a roundabout due to a diesel spillage proved to be from a wagon driver who had forgotten to replace his filler cap after brimming the tank.
2/ Embedded my front wheel into the rear wheelarch of a Volvo estate which pulled out of a side street 10 yards in front of me in broad daylight.
3/ Finished up with my helmeted head through the windscreen of a 190 Mercedes when he turned the wrong way into a one way street.
4/ Slid across 3 lanes of oncoming traffic on my backside, when the white van in the inside lane decided he wanted to be in the space I was taking up in the outside lane. (He was not even aware of the mayhem he caused and was never traced)
5/ Found by police unconscious with a broken neck up against a lampost after abandoning ship when a fire engine came around a blind left hand bend on the wrong side of the road as he overtook a stream of cars, none of whom stopped as it was only a stupid "Biker", the fire brigade also denied all knowledge of the incident.

This last episode with 4 wheeled @ssoles left me with a partially paralysed right side at 43 years of age which finally made me throw in the towel and revert to large cars built like tanks as a safer means of transport.

Rant over, but it really gets my goat when someone stereotypes a group of people merely because of a misguided image.

Well said Teabag.

Norwich Union (I think) once published something about the safest people on the road being those that rode motorcycles and drove cars.

If some of these people that have only ever driven cars had a spell on a bike, they'd soon modify their behaviour.

Couldn't agree more - a few years on a bike (plus the wish to live!) teaches you to look out for things that no amout of four wheel driving will - reading the road, watching for leaves, white lines, gravel, drain/manhole covers, Volvo drivers, drivers wearing hats, taxi drivers, minicab drivers, Volvo drivers, wet patches on the road - and other bike riders. (and Volvo drivers who consider the purpose of indicators are to tell you what they have just done ;)) Stereotype? Moi ??

I like to think that my years of riding on two wheels made me a much better car driver than I would have been without.

celebrities do this kind of thing, footballers, pop stars, motor racers, etc.
they can all afford the best lawyers.

but, noboddies do this as well, but it goes unnoticed.
be honest, and just think of all the times it could have gone wrong for you ?

BUT, if you do get it wrong, you have to PAY, not money, or the system would not be fair, doing time, driving ban for 10 yrs, and for some, their conscience.

i visit the IOM. TT races every year and watch ian duffus, i do not know if he is related to the duffus sited here ? do you know ? herbiemercman.
