Ignition barrel replacement

The previous owner on my 96 C280 replaced the ignition barrel for some reason...

Consequently, I have the alarm fob that activates the central locking/alarm with the flip out key that will unlock the passenger door and boot, and then a second key (only) that starts the car.

Mercedes today confirm that they can get me a replacement ignition to match the original key (only 67 quid) but couldn't give me a time or cost to install it (limited service staff around).

Is this an easy swap over? I have basic mechanical knowledge (mostly based around motorcycles) if needed, I have patience and/or a big hammer.

Due to climate (and my lack of garage) I had Portsmouth Mercedes swap out the ignition barrel today.

Total cost was 90.00 (48 lock 40 fitting) which was acceptable in my eyes.

Now my flick out key fob works as it should.

I had an Alpine stereo fit Wednesday, my AMG wheels refurbished yesterday and I have a service booked with Ollie tomorrow.

I think I'm done now.

Pompy Mb are pretty much as good as dealers get, there a good group on the south coast, now owned by ridge way group! we dont hear of many complaints from them!!
