no hope of the key turning with the remainder of the key shoved in?

no hope of using some very fine wire as a hook to get the old key out? (then get a new one cut to fit?)

what have you got left on the handle bit of the key? if the above doesnt work, try filing off a TINY bit off the end of the key to remove any burrs, and try again. in theory, it should turn as the two halves make up a whole key. If theres nothing left, and its snapped off at the handle, then you should be able to pop off the outer cover of the lock barrel (destroying it) and get enough to get a GOOD pair of pliers on it. Buy a brand new good set, it will cost you less in the long run, you only have one chance at this

If you can't get the lock to position one you will not get the barrel out of the steering lock.
You will have to smash or cut the ignition lock off the steering column and replace the steering lock, barrel and the electrical switch contact on the back off the housing. Good luck. :-( :-(
