Ok so i started a new thread b/c the other was getting too long.

The indicators went off again so i tried tapping the relay in charge of that and it didn't do a thing. I connected / re-connected it and nothing.

Makes me wonder if it was the ignition switch like TELEVISION said. However what is wierd is that when the indicators are working, the intermetient a slow wipers are a little didgy with full speed wipers ok.

When the indicators decide not to work, only the slow wipers work with no intermited and no fast. Strange?

Whats the next step?

OK to test this might be a good test, turn the wipers and indicators on, when they are working, turn on the heated rear window, if this turns the wipers and indicators off, it should be the switch as this switch feeds the N10 relay that performs the above functions

What i find wierd is that if it is a switch feeding power to the relay why do the wiper work on the middle setting (slow) when nothing else does. The tickers for the wipers are in that N10 relay also.

To test the above i have to hope the indicators actually do start working again.

It is not easy its just the ign switch supplies the power to the N10

What is the number on the N10 relay

So considering the wipers kind of work but the indicators don't.. thats not a power issue then right?

And i can't get them working again but i am tapping the rear heater screen swtich with no effect. I;m still confused as to what part that plays.

Don't know what number is on it at the moment but it does have three small tickers in it. Not sure which ones are for indicators or wipers but i don't think thats the matter.

Should i try fiddling with the connecter block that goes to the relay?

If it was a poor connection in the socket, by holding pressure on one side or the other would rule that out, I know the one member here has packed his out to keep it unfer pressure.

Once again with the heated rear window turned on, if there was a poor connection in the main feed everthing would stop, just a checking point.

When you put up the number I will see if I have one the same that you can borrow to test

Ok cool i'll see what i can do. Also i see what u mean about making the rear window drain the power. However this trst won't work on mine since i have the hard top off for summer.

I'll get the number and get back to you. This driving with my hands waving out of the window is getting embarassing.

129 sl 500. same blooming fault!

probably one for malcolm.

129 sl 500 wdb1290672f093299

indicators work for approx 4 flashes, sometimes more, then nothing! until car has been left standing. when fault occurs no intermittant wipers or rear heated screen either.
i have had the relay 1298201026 out, cleaned all contacts below. opened and checked for dry joints, none found but resoldered all pins anyway.

mercs want £265-80 plus vat for relay... gulp

ignition switch is 123 +vat.

any ideas? i have a pos on the relay even when fault is there. any further info would be good. its raining in wales and my arm is getting wet signalling. (and people around here dont know what hand signals are.)
