hi i'm thinking of getting Illuminated Door Sills for my 2000 w220,can anybody advise me. Could this be a DIY job,and any idea what the cost of the sills would be.I think the part Nos are B6 689 0049 & B6 689 0016 and can i get them from anywhere other than my main dealer.

Yes it is an easy job, the connections are in the kick panels.

I can give you a retro fit paper but the MB ones come complete.

Many after market versions are alli and this scratches very easily, the stainless are the best

Something new then,used to be on most,, I see the SAM is only just under the rear seat, but all of the side panels have to come off, at least the holes are there for the wires

Try here for sill covers, much cheaper than MB

They can be wired int the door switches negating the need for the MB loom.

I'm fairly certain all C class illuminated sills (even from MB) are the cover kind, not totally replacing the OEM.

The one's I bought from the above link are mirror polished stainless steel not ali :)

On a side note, and i do apologise for hi-jacking, i saw a 7 series the other day that when it was unlocked little white lights shone down from the door handles. i liked this. Do merc do this? could i retro fit to the ML?
