Hi guys and girls.
After almost a 3 yr absence i'm back with a Benz.
Some of you may remember my stories on here!
I had to call it a day for a while....
Some may remember that i was restoring a W123 in the winter of 2010-2011.
That particular car was very rotten and required an epic amount of welding. I was out every night working on it, welding and welding, then welding some more... When i wasn't working on the car i was at work doing extra hours to cover the costs.
Anyway, on completion of the resto, i sold the car. I presented the wad of cash to my wife and said we could now pay for a nice holiday!
She replied that she had been seeing somebody else and wasn't sure if she wanted to be married to me anymore.
As you can imagine, i was devastated. What followed was a year or so of a complete ongoing nightmare. Including, but not limited to, a broken foot, serious bouts of drinking, and culminating with being made redundant.
In the end i won her back, and got another job better than the one i lost.
Before anyone prints/posts anything nasty about the Mrs, i can't blame her for being lonely. I had been neglecting her (not intentionally i might add), and it was a case of communication breakdown which meant we didn't nip the problem in the bud.
2012 was spent rebuilding what was broken, and i have been careful about the time i spend in the garage.
Don't get me wrong, i'm still a wheelin' and dealin' grease monkey, but no lump of metal and plastic is worth losing my wife for..
Anyway, i have just bought another classic Benz.. A W123 230e.
No rust bucket resto this time, but a fully up together, low mileage car that i plan to use full time.
It is currently winging its way to Somerset on the back of a transporter and i should be taking delivery in the next couple of hours.
I look forward to chatting to you all again about all manner of Benz related banter, and i hope you are all keeping well.
I'll post some pics as soon as i can!
